Job Description

Job Description

We’re seeking an experienced, people-focused Medical Director to lead a well-established small animal hospital in South Windsor, CT.

This is a rare leadership opportunity offering a consistent four-day work week, no weekends, and the chance to guide a talented, compassionate team in a truly supportive environment.

As a trusted fixture in the community, the clinic is known for its warm, family-oriented culture and its dedication to providing high-quality, relationship-based veterinary care. The team values collaboration, autonomy, humor, and a positive working atmosphere where your leadership will directly shape the practice’s continued growth and commitment to providing high-end care.

The hospital provides a full range of general practice services, including wellness care, internal medicine, dentistry, and routine surgery. With modern diagnostics, an attractive schedule, and a highly engaged support staff, this is an ideal environment for a Medical Director who wants both clinical and leadership influence while maintaining a strong work-life balance.

You’ll oversee medical quality, support doctor development, partner with the Hospital Manager on operational and financial performance, and help nurture a thriving culture that places people first. This position offers competitive compensation, excellent benefits, and a sign-on bonus of $75,000.

Key Highlights:

  • Lead an established, well-respected, full-service, small animal hospital in South Windsor, CT
  • Consistent 4-day work week with no weekends!
  • Have a direct influence on medical standards, culture, and workflow
  • Blend of hands-on clinical work and strategic leadership responsibilities
  • Well-equipped with modern diagnostic equipment and facilities
  • Certified a "Great Place to Work" 2025
  • Strong collaboration with the hospital and senior leadership teams
  • Salary range $150,000–$165,000 + production and generous sign-on bonus

About You:

  • DVM or equivalent degree that allows you to practice veterinary medicine in the US
  • You hold (or are eligible for) a Veterinary State License in Connecticut
  • 4+ years of clinical experience; prior leadership experience preferred but not required
  • Confident in general practice medicine, surgery, and dentistry
  • A supportive leader who values communication, team development, and high-quality care

Benefits:

  • Competitive base salary between $150,000–$165,000 + production
  • $75,000 sign-on bonus
  • Health, Dental, and Vision insurance
  • 401K with up to 4% company match
  • Generous PTO
  • Paid maternity leave
  • CE allowance with additional PTO to attend
  • Student loan repayment support
  • Uniform allowance
  • Life insurance, short-term disability
