KOSME (Korea SMEs and Startups Agency) is a government-affiliated nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the global growth of South Korean startups and small- to mid-sized enterprises (SMEs). The Korea Startup Center Silicon Valley (KSC-SV) is one of several international accelerators established by KOSME to facilitate cross-border business development, investor outreach, and global market access.
About the Role
KOSME is seeking a dynamic and experienced Program Director to lead the strategic and operational functions of the Korea Startup Center in Silicon Valley. This is a full-time exempt position located in Santa Clara County, California. The Program Director will be instrumental in supporting early-stage Korean startups to access the U.S. market by providing acceleration programming, mentorship, partnership facilitation, and ecosystem development.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in planning, coordination, and execution of startup acceleration and business support programs.
Communicate directly with participating startups and assist with onboarding, logistics, and performance tracking.
Coordinate events including workshops, demo days, and networking functions. Maintain accurate program data, prepare internal documentation and reports to KOSME HQ.
Manage schedules, correspondence, and support the operational workflow of the Center. Support communication and outreach with local partners, vendors, and the startup ecosystem. Maintain compliance with program and office policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Business, Entrepreneurship, Communications, or a related field.
At least 35 years of relevant professional experience, preferably in startup support, accelerator programs, or nonprofit/international operations.
Strong organizational and communication skills, with ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Proficiency in English and comfort working in cross-cultural and bilingual (Korean-English) environments. Legal authorization to work in the U.S. (U.S. citizenship or green card required).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in startup or small business programs, innovation hubs, or economic development projects.
Korean language proficiency for communication with startup founders and HQ in South Korea.
Familiarity with Silicon Valley startup and investor ecosystems.
Compensation and Benefits
Annual salary range: $60,000 $75,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
Discretionary bonus eligibility based on individual and program performance.
Health insurance reimbursement (up to 8% of monthly salary, subject to proof of coverage).
401(k) retirement plan with 50% employer match up to 5% of salary, after 3 months of employment.
Monthly reimbursement of up to $960.00 for mobile use, transportation, and business-related expenses. Paid Time Off (PTO) begins at 12 days annually, with additional accrual based on tenure.
Paid sick leave in accordance with California law.
Benefits are provided in accordance with applicable internal policies and may be subject to change. Eligibility and participation are subject to plan terms and employer discretion.
Work Schedule
This is a full-time exempt position with a standard schedule of Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM 5:00 PM, including a one-hour unpaid lunch break. Flexibility is expected for evening or weekend events as required.
Employment Terms
This position is based on-site in Santa Clara County, CA.
Employment is at-will, and may be terminated by either party at any time, with or without cause, subject to applicable law.
The Program Assistant Manager will report to the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency (KOSME) and operate under its official policies and procedures.
